Goal Setup
Feature Statement
As part of providing financial wellness tools, banks are exploring various ways of offering savings tools that help automate the process for their customers. The Save for a Goal application simplifies the end-to-end process of setting a goal, figuring out amounts and frequency of withdrawals, and tracking progress over time.
Personas
We've condunducted qualitative user interviews to find out what users were looking for when setting up goals for themselves. Our focus was on what were largest obstacles facing them and what prevented them from completing their goals. We found out that most people that we've interviewed wanted to have savings be allocated automatically with minimal impact on their budgets.
User Journey
I've organized a workshop to look at typical path for user to save for a goal. It became quite apparent that there are many pitfalls in the process. We wanted to focus on problem areas to look for ways to help people on the right track.
Information Architecture
The primary benefit of the application was to provide users ability to save for an emergency, large purchase or events. Users can save for multiple goals in a single account, or for a single goal across multiple accounts. The app allows the set up of goals and keeps track of progress. I created the user flow wireframes to help the team understand the end-to-end scope of creating, editing, and tracking goal progress.
Ideation Sketches
I have started early explorations with different directions for our application. I wanted to see if users would be interested in application that has elements of gamification.
Ideation Sketches
Once I've understood that users preferred a simple approach, I have started putting together low-level wireframes to explore what interaction would look like
Mockups
User will start process by picking type of goal they would like to achieve. They will have an option to pick from variety of popular templates that have pre-defined conditions. User could also create a custom goal that would provide them with more flexibility on tracking and funding their goals.
Once they choose a goal type, they will be able to customize it. They would be able to give goal a name and customize its look where each one would have a color and iconography that would be most relevant to the user. If user would have chosen a custom goal, there would be more options that would define what user is trying to achieve.
Based on initial goal setup, we would provide users with recommended set of rules that may work for them. We would consider goal amount and timeline provided to determine most realistic ways that would help user accomplish their goal. User would be able to edit recommended rules or add variety of rules to subsidize the fund.
Because Save for Goal feature was part of larger suite of services, we would have access to all account that user has linked up. We would be able to determine based on account balances and spending patterns to decide of what would be best contribution they could make in order to fund their goal with as little impact on their livelihood as possible.
After all rules are set up, we would ensure that everything adds up and we would provide adjusted funding for the goal. They would be able to review all the changes and see preview the setup. User would be able to adjust their goal settings at any time if they feel that rules are either too aggressive or it, they'd like to update rules in order to achieve their goal faster.
Once goal is completed, it will be shown on goals in progress panel along with other goals they might've set up or have completed in the past. User would be able to track their progress towards the completion and see if they would like to make any changes.
